“Yeah, that…” May scratches behind her ear awkwardly, but there’s another, albeit a little smaller, smile on her lips soon enough, “But hey, let’s not get caught up on the small things, y'know?”
Jean resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Scott, and instead jumps to her feet all smiles, making her way over to May excitedly. “It’s so nice to finally meet you!” The redhead greets her happily, wrapping her arms around her tightly. “Hello, sweetheart! I’m Jean, you can call me Mom.”
“We’re not—” she started, only to cut herself off. It would be futile to correct them. She was already regretting this. She gestured first between Jean and May, “May, J— Mom; Mom, May. And, uh, Scott. You get the idea.”
May hugs the older woman back tightly, grinning excitedly over her shoulder at Rachel, “It’s nice to meet you too, mom,” she beams, pulling away from the embrace to turn to Scott. She extends her hand to him, “And you too, Mr. Summers. I’ll gladly take that questionnaire. I’m good with questionnaires.”
